Enamel (Glass on Copper)

Verdigris (Patina Finish)

Both metalworking and enameling date back to early dynastic times. First evidence of the use of the combination of these two forms dates back to the 13th century BC. Found in a Mycenaean tomb in Cyprus was an early example of cloisonne enameling on six gold finger-rings. The enamel had been used as a gemstone in the cloisons of the gold bezels.
